Octopus to sell plug-in solar kits from £450 after the 27 August rule change

Octopus now sells plug-in solar from £450: up to 800W, one or two panels, savings claim of up to £150 a year. The claim is a supplier ceiling. For a Herne Bay home, how much you save is decided by how much of your daytime electricity the panels cover.
Per the article, a two-panel kit with a smart export tariff could potentially repay its cost in five and a half years. Plug-in kits do not on their own qualify for SEG export payments, so that payback should be viewed as a best case, not a quote.
The Nook Cube plug-in battery is aimed at 2027 and cannot be bought yet. In Beltinge or elsewhere in Herne Bay, if you are choosing, ask for a kit price and a rooftop quote on the same assumptions.
